A Conversation with God about Heaven
Man: What do I have to do to get into Heaven?
God: Why do you want that?
Man: Isn’t it supposed to be the perfect place?
God: Yes and no. It is perfect, but the place itself really isn’t that important.
Man: What is, then?
God: Me. The whole point of the Christian afterlife is to be with Me.
Man: So, why can’t everyone go to Heaven if being with you is so good?
God: They could, but they wouldn’t enjoy it.
Man: Why not?
God: They’re not ready for it.
Man: How’s that?
God: You remember that I made everyone perfect, right?
God: Well, they don’t look like that anymore. They need to be fixed before they can enjoy being with Me.
Man: Fixed how?
God: The first part is that you’re broken as a human.
Man: What does that mean?
God: It means that I made you perfect and complete, but since you turned away from Me, you’ve become a shadow of your former self. You need to be fixed.
Man: What’s the other part?
God: Your relationship with Me is broken.
Man: How so?
God: You’re married, right?
God: Have you ever done something you shouldn’t have that upset your wife?
Man: Of course.
God: Well, kind of like that, until things get fixed between you and Me, the relationship isn’t right.
Man: So, what do I have to do to fix it?
God: Nothing. You have to let Me fix things.
Man: So why don’t you just fix everyone?
God: They won’t let Me.
